Why beeswax, and why does it matter?

Most candles — including ones marketed as "natural" — are made from paraffin (a petroleum byproduct) or blended soy wax. Pure beeswax is different in ways that are measurable, not just marketable:

  • Burns longer. Beeswax is roughly 6-10% more dense than paraffin or soy, so the same amount of wax lasts significantly longer.

  • Burns cleaner. Beeswax is entirely natural and releases negative ions when burned that neutralizes particles and brings them down and out of the air. This natural effect minimizes soot production, keeping your air and your home beautifully clean.

  • No synthetic additives. Our beeswax is sourced from beekeepers that practice responsible hive management and prioritize sustainable practices. We don't blend it with paraffin or soy to cut costs. What's in the jar is what it says on the label.

  • A warm, natural glow. Beeswax has a melting point of 145°F — significantly higher than paraffin (around 99–130°F) or soy (120–125°F). That higher melting point demands a hotter, more efficient burn, which produces a flame that emits a warmer color spectrum than you get from soy-based wax. It's the difference between a candle that fully enriches a room, and one that just sits in it.

Howdy! I'm Hunter - Hunter's Hive started in my kitchen as a simple idea: make a candle that's actually worth burning. Most candles smell synthetic, burn fast, and leave black soot behind. Our candles smell clean, burn way slower, and leave nothing but happy memories behind. We don't cut it with paraffin, we don't use fragrance oils that require a warning label, and we don't sell anything we wouldn't burn in our own living rooms. We like to say if you're going to burn, at least burn responsibly.
